DAKOTA Fanning says she’s “really nervous” about learning how to drive.
The actress, 16, admits she’s more frightened at getting behind the wheel of a car than she is in front of the camera.
“I have my permit to drive but I am only just starting out driving,” she said. “I’m really nervous about it.
“I can drive along the flats now but not busy roads or the freeway. I have a long way to go before I’m brave enough for that.”
Fanning recently revealed that she had her sights set on becoming a tennis player before becoming an actress.
“My mom went to college on a full scholarship for tennis, my dad played minor-league baseball and my grandfather was a quarterback for the Philadelphia Eagles,” she said.
“So before I started acting the plan for me was to be a tennis player – that was the plan for me and my mum had me in tennis classes.
“One day I went to her and told her I really love the outfits but it’s just too hot – it’s just too hot for me to play tennis and I didn’t want to play anymore.” [Source]
We aren’t saying this only because we are completely Team Coco, but we really can’t stand Jay Leno’s late night shows. If you missed Dakota Fanning on “The Tonight Show” last day, don’t even bother catching it online and just wait until tomorrow night when the entire cast is on Jimmy Kimmel.
Not only was there no new clip (we have the now staple Volturi in Seattle scene), but there was no real talk of “Eclipse,” and the entire interview was a clearly pre-choreographed snooze fest.
All the talk of “Eclipse” was in the final minutes of the interview, where Dakota admitted she has loved Vancouver since she worked on some projects there when she was younger, and spends most of her time walking up and down Robson Street. Jay seemed really concerned about how she and the rest of the cast (or “vampires,” as he repeatedly put it) spent their time off set, so Dakota told a story about how they played a game of what can only be described as mini-bowling during their “New Moon” days.
Now, yes, there has been plenty of oversaturation with the stars of “Eclipse” over the past two months, but there could have at least been some effort to talk about the film. It’s what she was there to promote, and as much as we love that she was adorable as a kid playing sports and loves the Lakers, that’s not what we wanted to see.

She’s not “adorable little Dakota Fanning” anymore. She’s 16 now, but you’d never know it by talking to her on the phone. In a recent interview from Los Angeles, where she was promoting The Twilight Saga: Eclipse , which opens Wednesday, Fanning came across as every bit the seasoned film and TV veteran she is – some 40 movie and TV credits since her debut, at 5, in a Tide commercial.
On the phone, she seems, well, perhaps 26. The Georgia native is polite, charming, intelligent. She does not giggle. We talked briefly about her role as one of the Volturi, the ultra-nasty vampire royalty who make brief appearances in both Eclipse and its predecessor, New Moon.
What are the Volturi up to this time? We come there [the U.S.] this time, rather than everyone coming to Italy. There’s a big battle between the vampires and the werewolves on one side, and the newborn vampires on the other. The Volturi kind of pop in, do their thing and swoop out. [Not wanting to give too much away, she declines to define “their thing” for publication.]
Those red eyes are wicked. How do they do that? We have hand-painted contact lenses. They were really hard to get used to at first, but once you put the costumes on and those contacts in, it’s very dramatic in terms of acting. You transform.

Dakota Fanning takes Eclipse by storm. While her time on screen is small, Fanning fans the flames of war that are central to the Eclipse universe.
Kristen Stewart shines as Bella, but she also rocked as Joan Jett opposite Dakota Fanning in The Runaways. The two, between the Twilight movies and filming the Runaways, have become the best of friends.

Twilight star Dakota Fanning has revealed that before she became an actress, her parents had hoped she would excel on the sporting field.

She added: “So before I started acting, the plan for me was to be a tennis player – that was the plan for me and my mum had me in tennis classes.

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning are good friends and co-stars — last year in “The Twilight Saga: New Moon,” most recently in “The Runaways,” and soon in “The Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” opening Wednesday.
But they’re also neatly paired opposites.
Stewart might uncomfortably remind you of the young person living in your house, or the one you used to be — prone to bad posture, complicated moods and eye-rolling exasperation.
Fanning, however, is a picture-perfect role model.
She dutifully fits in a morning of interviews on an already crammed day in Manhattan. Dressed in fashionable but appropriate tight black leggings and loose white blouse, she listens to questions attentively and answers in calm, direct sentences.
“She’s so professional,” one TV reporter after another says after leaving Fanning’s hotel suite.

Teenage actress Dakota Fanning says she is delighted to be a part of the ‘The Twilight Saga’ and was pleased when she was offered a role in the vampire romance.
The 16-year-old, who plays Jane, a member of the intimidating Volturi vampire coven in the movie, says she was a big fan of the original novel by Stephenie Meyers, reports contactmusic.com.
‘I’d read the books and seen the first film, and definitely I was a fan. I was honoured that I got asked to be a part of this whole phenomenon,’ said Fanning.
But Fanning confesses she was keen to do the female lead of Bella Swan, played by Kristen Stewart.
‘The parts are very specific and by the first one, ‘Twilight’ in 2008, the main roles were already cast and so it was great that I was able to be a little part of it,’ she added.
The actress also revealed that she and Stewart have become good friends while filming for the movie.
‘In ‘The Runaways’ we played best friends and we’re really great friends in real life,’ she said. [Source]
Dakota Fanning talked about her new movie, ‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ and how she loved playing someone evil since it was different from all her other roles, according to Sify.
“She definitely takes pleasure in using her power which is inflicting pain on others, which is not a normal thing! So yeah it was cool to get to transform myself into more of an evil character which I haven’t done before,” Fanning said. The evil character she’s talking about is a vampire named Jane.
According to the site, Fanning, 16, confessed that her acting career is the only career for her, but she does want to continue her education and attend college.
“I do want to go to college. I want to be able to act and go to college at the same time, But it is absolutely what I want do with the rest of my life. I can’t imagine doing anything else. It’s what I love,” she said. [Source]
